The Assassenachs are an acoustic celtic folk band from Scotland. We, Steve Dewar (vocals, acoustic guitar) and Greig Coutts (bodhran, vocals) have been rip-roaring accross Europe with Scottish and Irish traditional and untraditional songs since 1998. Along the road we have played together with a host of accompanying musicians.
Since 2014 we have been playing with Erik de Jong on accordion and occasionally with Katherine Macleod on flute and whistle and Anna Marije on violin. Over the past decade and a half, the Assassenachs have played pubs, clubs, festivals and stages in 9 countries, sometimes playing 3 or 4 gigs a week.
Our live shows are dynamic, authentic and fully entertaining in a non glitzy but honest way. There is an element of punk in the music and yet the traditional feel to the songs are retained.
We can play as duo, trio or four piece band.
